Comfort Inn & Suites Orem - Provo

The room is clean and comfortable. The staffs are friendly and helpful.

We stayed at this Comfort Inn several years ago on the way to Montana and were impressed by the value - price, location, amenities. We became Choice members, in addition to our Hilton Honors, thinking Comfort would be perfect for late arrival/early departure road trips. Well, things deteriorated drastically during a recent stay. Upon check in we noticed a faint smell of cooking food but thought it might be from someone using a microwave. When we stepped off the elevator on the 3rd floor the smell was overpowering. Someone was definitely cooking, either curry or perhaps menudo. It was definitely not pleasant. After opening our room windows and turning up the fan we could not eliminate the smell. I complained to the front desk and asked for another room on the second floor. The desk clerk was not accommodating at all and declared there would be extra charges. I refused the extra charges and he called his manager. They gave us another room but during his call he kept referring to room 324 a few doors down from ours. I believe they knew who was doing the cooking, perhaps some workers on the premises. I asked the managers name- Patel. Though I said nothing I guess the clerk didn't like the look on my face and threatened to evict my wife and I on the basis of racism. I was stunned and disgusted so we decided to leave. Again, instead of terminating our stay with no charges the clerk said he couldn't guarantee there would none. I said any charges on my credit card would be disputed. There was no shouting, no obscenities and the discussion was even-toned, the on-site camera could prove that. The clerk clearly wanted to punish us for challenging his authority, he threatened to call the police. The entire situation was sad and confusing. Comfort Inns are franchises so be aware that owners/managers may not comply to parent Choice Hotel International standards. This is a poor reflection on Choice Hotels business model.

Pros: Bed comfortable with nice duvets and fluffy pillows Desk Sitting chair. Room was modern and clean. Outside lighting good. Cons Remote in room #121 would not work. Trash can by side door overfilling, and there when left in morning. Side door lock broke. Coffee tasted like cardboard. Overall it was a good stay. I travel a lot and the trash cans not being emptied is a reoccurring issue. Also, so many of us used to Starbucks and establishments still insist on serving inferior coffee. Why? I paid well over $100 for my room.

Noisiest hotel we’ve EVER had and we travel a lot. Not an enjoyable night and the housekeeping ladies were so loud in the morning.

Excellent hotel.

My reservation was canceled because a virtual card from ******* was declined, had to sleep in my car in a Walmart parking lot!!!!!!
